About

Hello and thanks for visiting The Healthy Junkie, my blog, or personal website. My name is Laura Page (R.H.N.). I’m a Life Coach and Registered Holistic Nutritionist. I hope to inspire your inner healthy junkie through community, nutrition, healthy recipes and mindful stories to help us all make healthier daily decisions to maintain, or improve  our overall health. In my past life, I was a junk food junkie, a cigarette smoking junkie, an alcohol junkie and a junkie with a bad attitude. Now I’m a holistic health junkie and pine for information related to the power of the body to heal on all levels; be it physical, emotional, mental or spiritual.

I live in Napa, California. I’m originally from Ontario, Canada (Toronto area). Formerly I was the Director of Marketing for a resort company and was transferred to Napa, from Whistler, BC, where my husband and I lived for many years.

Recently, I completed a memoir about how I embarked on a journey of personal transformation after being diagnosed with cancer for the third time, at twenty-five years old. I underwent my first surgery for chest tumors at twenty-one. In the end, hard-core nutrition, positive thinking, emotional corrections, and a new-found faith in myself and the unknown, resulted (finally) in the disappearance of two tumors from my chest.

My mission is to empower, motivate and inspire others to lead healthier, more fulfilled lives. Having had cancer three times—by the age of 25—has propelled me into a life of wanting to serve others and protect them from having to go through unnecessary pain and disease. I became a Registered Holistic Nutritionist to help heal myself physically. I enjoy helping others feel the connection of how nutrient-dense, whole foods can positively impact their lives. I became a Life Coach to integrate a framework that focuses on the mental and emotional aspects of wellness. Most people don’t slow down to contemplate their lives and integrate significant positive changes until there is a catastrophic event such as an illness, death or accident. I believe it is necessary to take the time to design our lives every step of the way and not wait for a wakeup call. In short, we have the power to create the life we want. Sometimes we just need a keen ear and a helping hand to help remind us of who we truly are and what we genuinely intend.

My intention with The Healthy Junkie blog and especially through the Eat Healthy Challenge is to help myself and others find a path of moderation and enjoy long-lasting health. I would like to honor my inner-junkie by feeding her healthier options that continue to take my health and happiness into consideration. I believe the journey to health is a personal one, but journeys are always more fun taken with others. I hope you will join me through participating in this blog and reap the benefits of becoming a healthier junkie.

Laura, you are truly an inspiration for many!

I am a true believer of “power of attraction” and believing in yourself (no one else will). We are the “power of our own destiny! ”

I believe in when we are organized, our lives are organized! I believe if we start our day right, the rest of the day will follow suit! A healthy breakfast, a healthy lunch and a healthy dinner will keep you feeling good, mentally, physically and psychologically………. Sure, we go off and get influenced sometimes by the rhythm of our lifestyles, but every now and then a good cleanse can get us back on track!!

For personal reasons at this time, I will not be able to go straight up with the cleanse until November 1st, but I will certainly start eliminating certain things until then and once I start, I will eliminate all six items and do it for 2 weeks! Thanks for getting this started for us all!!

Looking forward to reading more about your healthstyle choices! (too bad I’m too late to join in on the cleanse… )

    cheers,

  11. […] 2.  Pim and I spent the weekend in Napa hobnobbing with the rich and famous in the beverage industry at an event hosted by Mutineer magazine, the best fine beverage magazine in the country. While there I had a chance to meet and speak at length with Laura Levesque Page a.k.a the health junkie. Her story is incredible and her message is one that I certainly agree with. I’m hoping to have an interview with her for this blog very soon. In the mean time you can read more about her here. […]
